Why wont my windows movie maker for vista on my laptop work with my digital cameras videos format AVI?

it always shows up as an audio file and doesnt show any video.

it works on my old compuyer when i use movie maker for windows xp, but i dont know why

If your laptop is new or you havent downloaded the proper CODEC's THEN WMMwont take the file. to go options in the wmm and check automatically download codec's try again and it should work ~ good luck
