Why wont the DMV accept my proof of Insurance?

I live in new york, and i got insurance through progressive. I bought a brand new car, and the dealer took care of all the registration work. The dealer sent out the title and registration work, and while that was in process, i got a letter from my insurance company saying the DMV failed to accept your proof of insurance. Progressive submits this insurance electronically. I updated all my info so everything is up to date, and they submitted it again and the DMV still rejected it. I know in New york, if you dont have proof of insurance electronically through DMV, they wont register the car. Now here is the tricky part. I have a 45 day reggie. Thats about to expire. and you can only obtain a reggie 45 days into the policy. And the paper work for the reggie was sent to the dmv from the dealer. I paid for my reggie in my loan. I dont know what to do. My car does have insurance. The DMV just wont accept it. And the 45 day mark is coming shortly. How do I get a reggie? What do I do??

  1. The obvious answer is:  You need to find out WHY the proof of insurance isn't being accepted.  If you don't know what may be wrong,  how can you fix it ?  Contact the DMV and ask why.
