Our local news channels do the exact news everyday. The national channels flood every channel with celebrety divorces or similarly totally unimportant issues non stop, while rarely showing any serious news. Why wont the news channels show important news issues?

  1. Last night I was watching Anderson Cooper (he had a fill in) and they kept saying that they are going to have the interview of the three American hostages rescued from Columbia. For the entire hour all they are talking about is Jesse Jackson and Barack Obamas kids, etc. Now it's the end of the hour and for about two minutes they show it, and say the rest of the interview will be at 6 am the next day.

Unlike us, most people don't give a care about important issues/ events.

Personally, I would really like to see a lot more international news. When I travel abroad the news channels are great, like CNN International, Al Jazeera, and BBC World. You see so much news from all countries, not just America. Actually very little is said about America, which I find refreshing.

  2. Yep, I am with you.  When I am getting ready in the morning and would like to hear some important news, the only thing that is one for (literally) 30 minutes is the weather.  How can they talk about the weather for 30 minutes?  Especially when I can look out the window and see what it is doing and cannot change it.  It is either weather or 30 minutes of traffic.  That is about all that is on...every day...all morning.

  3. Honestly, I think it's because the news is just so depressing.  There is no way that the 24 hour news channels could continuously put out real hard hitting news stories.  The bottom line is the world is just too depressing.

  4. You couldn't be more right.
