Why wont the subtitles in my dvd show on vlc and media player classic?

Question

the subtitles show when i play the dvd on a dvd player but not when i play it on my computer, i tried setting it to autoload subtitles and even selecting the subs when playing the dvd but they wont show up

Hi Chris,

I believe subtitles are imposed over the picture as a second video stream so they wouldn't record.

I am not sure how you can overcome that but there must be a way to do it.
