My dads friend always gets turned down when he goes to his local nightclub. When he goes there they just say ''sorry mate'' and turn him away, and they dont even have a reason!

He's quite butch and well built, but he has such a lovely personality but I just dont understand why they didn't let him in both times that he's tried.

Surely thats discrimination?

  1. Is there a dress code? eg No trainers, no denim etc

    Was he following it?

  2. If he isn't dressed smart enough or looks like trouble maker, or if there is already much more men than women in the club (yes, they count) thay are allowed to turn him down without explaining the reason.

  3. He might be a "bad lad" in reality and is known to the doormen, dont just take people on face value, they might know something you dont.

  4. Generally it's the look, maybe he has visible scars or tattoos or maybe it is simply because he looks butch. Bouncers tend to have a simple rule of thumb, if he looks like he's going to cause trouble (not that I'm saying your dad's friend does) then they are more likely to turn him away. The only reason I know this is because one of my dads mates had the same problem. He had a scar that he got when he was in a severe car accident & whenever he went to a nightclub he wasn't allowed in either!

  5. maybe because of dress code or the fact that hes probablly pretty old to be going out to clubs and dancing with 18 year olds and other young adults

personality is not gonna get you into a club its about looks

people of bars and clubs hold the right to refuse service to who ever they want and this has been going on since like segregation times in america

  6. Night clubs are allowed to let in anyone they want. Maybe he needs to dress up more?

  7. Hi Roxy, as an ex bouncer or doorman i can tell you that this happens all the time, that particular club is probably stronging it a bit the door staff are who determine if you get in or not several factors come into play like dress, single or accompanied and like you say if he´s a big bloke it may well go against him its all in the image. The management leave it up to the door staff to use their discretion which is not always right. If you feel you´ve been discriminated against, i would suggest you phone the club and ask to speak to the manager or owner and explain the situation to him they will usually sort it out as they don´t want bad press. All door staff now have to be licenced and regulated so don´t be affraid to complain, but always do it to the managment. B-LUCKY

  8. maybe they have a reason you dont know... maybe he did something bad you are unaware of...

maybe there is a dressing code they want people to follow and he doesnt follow it...?

did he ASK why? ill normally do it if someone wont let me in someplace...

if there is no real reason behind it, and they just think he can cause problems based on his appearance then its discrimination, and you can take legal actions against this club
