I have an IBM R52 thinkpad laptop. I recently bought Morrowind and Heroes of might and magic which require around 1.3 or 1.5 ghz processor speed. Mine is 1.73. I noticed that sometimes my speed drops down to 795 mhz. I have more than enough ram. WHY WONT THESE GAMES RUN????

  1. ?

  2. You could try looking at the box to see what operating system it runs on. Then right click on the link and select properties from menu. Then try running it in compatability mode for whatever system its meant to run on. Might work, helped me when I was trying to get old games working.

  3. It might be an operating system thing. Most old games work on vista but some don't. I bought final fantasy online only to find out when i installed it it wouldn't work =[. So other than making your laptop an XP instead of vista there isn't a solution. Hope this was helpful

  4. you could be missing certain components to play it (you need to download these)

I had zoo tycoon and I needed to download special drivers to play it

  5. it might just be a problem with the computers processing power if you want to look into it a bit further on why your laptop can't run it here is a great website www.systemrequirementslab.com

  6. because god is angry with you

Sounds like there might be a hardware compatibility problem. Take out the original 256 mb of ram and try it. Sometimes memory can have conflict with each other if they are a bit different. Also try lowering your settings. Do you have the latest direct x.

The morrowind game looks like it  is unstable over 1G memory anyways so with the 128 mb to your onboard video it should be good. Also check to see how much memory is used by your on board video. On some mainboards you can set the amount of memory it uses.

This guy suggests downloading the latest patch. Morrowind crashing isn't that uncommon apparently.

This one suggests changing the ( I think it's called ) "3D Audio" button from Hardware to Software rendering?  Seems to have done the trick for me. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/11187-...
