Why would 8 officers raid a 71 year old womans home?

They were not local police, did not show her I.D. , left no paperwork, did not appoligize, but led her to believe they were looking for drugs! She has no car, lives alone, no foot traffic, has lived in her home for 30 years!

This is my mother and we don't know who they were and are trying to find out. Why would any department do this without any good reason? Antioch Ca.

  1. Officers of the law do not ransack a person's home without good reason.  I am not saying your mother gave them a reason, but someone in her neighborhood might be angry with her and made a false report as revenge.

If the public only knew the amount of BS these officers face on a daily basis, they wouldn't whine and complain.  Smart mouth arrogant attitude doesn't play well when an officer is trying to do his/her job.  They don't have time to listen to the boo hoo story.  They need answers quickly so they can resolve the situation.

Yes, report this to your local law office.  Whoever these people were they could have damaged her health.

To search the house, a search warrant must be presented.  I hope you find out who did this.

  2. your mom probably didn't know this but you DO NOT have to let a cop in your home unless they have a search warrant and must present it along with proper ID and a reason to the search....you must report this to the APD immediately and they should know why this happened. if it is truly legit. and if they are not local you have the right to call local PD for assistance and most the time if a non local dept was to raid or search a home they would have the local PD stand by. this doesn't sound right at all she needs to find out why this happened.

  3. u need to notify the police... maybe even get her a guard dog... a cat

you may want to let her move in while this cleared up... do u have proof it was police?

  4. maybe she was growing alot of pot for her glaucoma, lol.

  5. How do you know they were the Police?  Sounds pretty sketchy to me.  If they were the real Police they would have identified themselves at least and, depending on the circumstances, provided her with a copy of a search warrant.

It's not like we pick people's houses out and random and decide to just ransack it.

There is no statutory limit on the number of Officers that can search a house for drugs no matter the age of the occupant............but I doubt these were really Police Officers.

  6. Well, nobody here can tell why eight officers would "raid" a 71 year old woman's home.  There's just not enough information available and frankly, I think that's really not the important part of the situation.

What's more important to me is *who* these eight officers were and whether or not this actually happened.

Do you know for certain this took place?  I'm sorry to even suggest it, but is it possible your mother was confused about the events?

Did she allow them into the house based on some conversation at the door, or did they just sort of announce they were there and walk on in?

There may not have been any paperwork to leave and I'm not sure yet that there was any reason to apologize to anyone.  There's no way to answer why a department would do this without any good reason because we don't yet know which department did it and whether or not they had a reason.

At least three places you need to check with:

Antioch PD (if your mother lives in the city)

    Contra Costa Sheriff's Office

Central Contra Costa Narcotic Enforcement Team

Good luck with this.  I hope it turns out to be a simple and innocent mistake at worst.  My guess is that it was a law enforcement agency because I have a hard time seeing eight "bad guys" getting together at the same time to search your mom's house.

  7. did they have the right house?..this sounds a little far fetched....do you have a news link?..some proof that it happened as you say?

  8. Report this inncident to the local police.  Fill out a report.

  9. them ego tripping cop are nuts

they want to earn a metal get pay raise

they do not care about mother!

some narc gave them wrong address

and they do not like to be wrong!!

  10. well a lot of cop are not straight any more a lot of them haras people for almost no reason thats y u report there *** if that don't work sui there ***

  11. Maybe she is a dealer.

  12. It doesn't sound like it was any Law Enforcement Agency at all. Warrant services aren't done that way. Any time a search warrant is served nowadays it is by an entry team that is clearly identifable as "Police" Something's definitely not right.

You definitely need to contact the local P.D. and find out what's going on. It could be anything from a mistake by a P.D. or Sheriff's Dept., a home invasion by a group or something else that your Mom didn't understand. If it wasn't the Police they will definitely want to know about it!

    Good Luck!

  13. maybe they were the legendary men in black that search random people houses for information or supression of information

  14. bad news. either your mom is a dealer, or clinically insane.

  15. Probable one of the cops infamous informants gave the cops the wrong address.

  16. Obviously there wasn't a good reason. They probably made a mistake and were too immature/paranoid to admit it. I knew of someone, a little younger but not much, who had the same experience. This was several years ago however.

  17. Blues answer was pretty good, They could definitely gotten a false tip from a neighbor, or a drug addict, A good friend of mine with the Vancouver PD says that alot of the time they will bust a house on only one tip.

Alot of the time those tips come from addicted drug users strung out or on drugs.
