Why would China order restaurants to take dog off the menu for the Olympics?

Are Westerners really so sensitive when they visit other countries? A dog is just an animal, not much different from other animals used for meat.

Isn't it hypocritical of meat eaters to tell other meat eaters what animals are acceptable to eat?

The only ones with a valid complaint here would be vegans, and you can see what kind of respect they get in the West.

wow, that's kinda sad in a way that they would take a dish off their menu just because it is not politically correct..

it is also kinda sweet that they would offer to do so..it is a kind gesture..i suppose..

i do agree with you that it is hypocritical of meat eaters

I personally do not eat a lot of meat, but to eat dogs to me is sickening as they are supposed to be pets. But to go to some Countries, they have other ideas, and would eat anything with four legs. It disgusts me as I am a lover of animals, and the little meat that I do eat is bred for that purpose. They are barbaric in some of these eastern blocs, and are cruel in the way they kill them as well.

Westerners would not be eating beef/pork if they were pressured by Hindus/Muslims.

We did not force them to, but yes, it is very hypocritical.  I hear they are also starting to imort toilet paper too.  i guess they thought banana leaves were too primitive for us westerners.

I used to have a sticker on the back window of my car which read " A dog is not just for Christmas" So I added " Try one warmed up on boxing day"   I have to add that I really am against killing dogs to eat. Could you eat your own cat ?

They would run short of dogs. And the humane society is to busy killing theirs to give them some extras.

Anyone who eats a dog is not as intelligent as they think they are.  You can eat June bugs, for all I care.

Don't try to blame it on westerners. The Chinese are the ones taking dog of the menus. Are westerners somehow forcing China to do this?
