Why would God care who you marry?

This is directed towards those who pray for God to send them a mate....

Why would God intervene in your personal life in that manner?

God wants us to marry a fellow Christian. "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers." Your version of a prayer is also very broad. A Christian usually prays for God to let him find a suitable spouse if it is His Will for that Christian to be married. Not everyone is meant to be married; most marriages that are not in line with God's Will end in divorces. Of course, this is not always the case; God sometimes allows unfavorable circumstances to enter our life as a kind of test for us. Conversely, non-Christians may marry and live happily.

Whether you like it or not, God is a personal god, and does intervene in our lives (see Book of Jonah).

I always wonder if you can't lust, how do you find anyone to be more than "just friends". Even a Christian is only human, and without spark, or attraction, wouldn't marriage become a chore?

Because your "soul mate" is your other half - someone who God has designed to be with you.  Or sometimes just that you choose a loving spouse instead of getting married to a jerk.

He doesn't and He does. He would rather you partner yourself up with someone where you both help each other to grow, rather then one where one or both are torn down. Better still two who help each other to grow towards God.

Because we are to marry other believers who worship God.

Most people want a mate that worships the same God as they do.

There would be less problems to face if both believe in the same God and follow the same teachings.

Why would God intervene in your personal life in that manner? Because we ask him to send us one who completes us. God created us and we need a help meet to be one in God.

God cares even for the birds. How much more does he care for us?

God knows what we need, and praying is never bad.

Praying and looking oneself, of course.

Because God loves you.   It's God vs gonads here, and gonads do not choose wisely.    And so, one is wise to ask God to send the right mate.

God gave us life.  He also promised He would provide all that is necessary to live this life, to the fullest.  This includes everything!

If we wait patiently for God to deliver, we find that we live happy, content, in harmony with peace and love.  It is God's delicate balance.
