Question:

Why would I measure large?

Has anyone on here measured 4+ weeks ahead in a normal pregnancy? I don't have gestational diabetes, and the 20 week ultrasound says my due date is correct. I am also not retaining water. Is it possible for twins to be completely hidden and you don't find out until the beginning of the third trimester? I've had some symptoms of twins all along, but ultrasounds don't lie, do they?

  1. my wife measured very large all through her pregnacy, she didnt have GD either, the nurse just gave her c**p about it until he was born..16lbs12oz no joke no bs make them check you out. not to scare you he and mom did great. hes 6 now and about the size of any 5th grader.lol   If you want to talk to her email me at savedsetfree@yahoo.com she will check in the morning.

  2. Because the measurement is absolute bullcrap.  It is helpful as a warning sign if you are WAY over or WAY under what is expected, but otherwise doesn't mean a thing.  In your 8th month the dr. will start trying to predict how much the baby will weigh.  Also bullcrap.  A complete mystery to all until the little buggar comes out -- no matter what the dr. might claim!

  3. 33 weeks i was measuring 37..could be the position of the baby.. amount of amniotic fluid..

  4. That sounds like the same thing my friend went through. She's started showing at literally 8 weeks pregnant and thought twins all along. All the ultrasounds showed a singleton. We all thought she's going to have a big baby. She gave birth on the 15th at 36 weeks due to preeclampsia & the baby only weighed 4 lbs 4 oz which we all are astonished.

If you were going to have twins, I would think you would know by now but its not unheard of if one twin hides behind the other and their heartbeats are insync.

Either way you are blessed. Congratulations!!

  5. I measured 6 wks ahead with my first pregnancy and then 4wks behind towards the end.  Both ended up in U/S's to check fluid, etc.

The fundal height is really just as estimate and depends on what position the baby is.  In other words, it's not accurate and mostly old school doctors use this.

  6. YES, i am four weeks ahead of what i should be, but the ultrasound tech said i was due dec12 and going by my LMP i am due nov 13, but like you i measure big and do not have gestational diabetes.
