  1. If something isn't working do you keep pouring money into it.  Since the Department of Education was established, students haven't scored better in comparison to other students in other countries.  On the contrary, our educational system is broken.  The dropout rate is astronomical.  Those who do graduate from high school are not as well educated as generations before them and before the Department of Education.  The SAT people had to re-do their scoring because students scores were so low compared to the earlier years.  McCain is right to want to end the morass called the Department of Education.  Let education be handled on the local level like it was in days past.

  2. That is good news, we've had a failing system for years, private sector would do much better.

  3. Education takes money, the GOP has figured that bombs make money.

  4. Because education has gone to ****.  They haven't helped the problem, they've been apart of it.

  5. The federal Department of Education was made a part of the president's Cabinet by new world order facilitator Jimmy Carter.   That's reason enough to abolish it right there.   Prior to that, America had the finest education system in the world.

  6. Because, along with Energy, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Commerce and Labor, and all of their subsidiaries, It is involved in stuff that the Government of the United States of America has no Constitutional business in.

All any of those Cabinet levels do is usurp the Powers of the States, and increase the tax burden of the citizens.

  7. Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

The federal government has no right to create a department of education.

  8. Why wouldn't he?  The dept has been a dismal failure since Carter created the cabinet level department.  Education throughout the country has declined steadily ever since.  We need to get the Federal govt out of education..

  9. Education should be handled at the state and local level.  The dept of education is a waste of money.

  10. look at the worldwide education rankings it is obvious the lib indoctrination camps aren't working time for a new plan.

  11. It will finally break the largest union in history.  The Dept. of Ed. was simply invented by Jimmy Carter to garner all the teacher union votes in the late 70s.  If you  think it's an important dept, think again.

  12. Basically, because it is a bloated, worthless, and unneeded branch of the federal government.  Each state should run its education.  The feds need to butt out!

  13. I have to agree with him, it's like FEMA, needs to be undone, and redone, right.

  14. Because it would be better served if it was privatized.

  15. i haven't heard that he wants to abolish it, but if he does, i'll definately vote for him. federal government has no place in education

    EDIT:

"If the government doesn't step in and help..."

the government? are you completely ignorant? government has no money. NO MONEY. government pays for everything with tax money. which is my money. and your money. and everyone else who pays taxes. taking money from one group and giving it to another goes completely against the principles that made this country great and rich to start with. how will taking my money and giving it to someone else solve any problems whatsoever?

  16. Not true.  He just wants the Union teachers to be accountable and not have deadwood teachers that drift through their jobs ineffectively.

  17. I would, if I had the chance.

  18. I can't speak for John McCain because I haven't heard his reasons.  I'd remove it because, whether for good or ill, what the Department does is not within the enumerated powers granted to the federal government.  In other words, the federal Department of Education is unconstitutional.

  19. The power of education is enumerated to the states.

There is no need for federal oversight.

  20. Yeah, how else are you going to fund a war and keep the tax cuts for the rich...

  21. in this country we need a redo of the education system, kids that need special education classes just arent getting them for sure! the school systems tend to cater to the brighter children and those that tend to learn more slowly are just expected to keep up and that needs to change. i agree with Mccain far too many teachers out there that care about a paycheck and not the kids, i say get them another line of work. and the teachers that are the best need to stay and get a raise, lord knows they deserve it. i sure would not want the job for the lousy pay they get.

  22. Just because he is crazy and aggressive.

I do think he si selfish, always worrying about himself, spend so little time thinking about common people.

But he will never achieve this!
