Why would McCain bypass a qualified black women like Condi Rice for a white soccer mom as his VP?

Why would McCain choose a soccer mom who was was governor of a state with the population the size of Atlanta, Ga , when Condi Rice was sitting there third in line in succession to the Presidency. It was clearly a demographic pick, why not choose the most qualified women.

  1. Condi has refused several times. Alaska is beaten in population by a mere 200,000 by Delaware (Biden is Delaware's Senator). Condi was not third in line of succession Nancy Pelosi was. Palin has more executive experience than Biden and Obama combined.

  8. I don't think Condi Rice wants to be VP.  She is very tightly connected to the Bush administration right now.  McCain needs someone not so tied in with Bush and Sec. Rice needs some distance from Bush.

    I fully expect Condi Rice to be back in a few years and I will vote for her when she is.  

    I agree, she is very qualified to be president or vice president.  But now is not the time.
