Why would a Yamaha raptor-motor turn over slow?

im having problems with my 660 to it was turning over just wouldent fire up unless i hooked up jump cables then a friend taped on the startor and it fired up. left it at his house next morning he said it fired strate up  rode for a while now it wont crank the relay was buzing then i orderd a new one tries to turn but hums from the relay you think its the staror or weak battery now scared to even try to jump it again dont wana buy another relay any ideas?

Weak battery.  Or contacts on starter motor are dirty/corroded making for a weak starter.  See www.raptortranny.com for details.
