  1. Guinea pigs are very good at hiding illnesses. Practicly the only way you can tell if they are sick is if you weigh them and check if they are losing weight. When they are sick, they don't eat, and when they don't eat the organs start to shut down one by one. Please give me some symptoms and maybe i'll know what it is.

Im very sorry for your loss. Your story sounds identicle to mine. I was only 10 when Brownie died. ( heh he was orange and white ) I walked in and saw him lying on his size and gasping for air. We rushed to the vet at about 12 at night but we didn't make it. He died in my arms on the way.

  2. My rabbit died in the same way..

except she was not gasping. she died of gastroenteritis and it happened so suddenly..

Maybe guinea pugs can get gastroenteritis???

My rabbit was fine in the morning then that evening on the way to the vet in the car she died...

she was lethargic and was limp.

It happend on boxing day and made a sad end to our christmas.

Also he might of had a heart attack. Gasping is an indication of lung or heart failure where they are finding it hard to breath.

it was good that you were with him though. And I'm sure he knew that he was with someone that loved him and always looked out for him.

I am very sorry for your loss. x*x

  3. it could have choked? im really sorry =(

  4. Aww! I am so sorry, at least you were with him when he passed

Maybe he choked to death if he was gasping. He probably got into somthing and it got stuck in there..... at least you were smart enough to know that you had to find a vet. To make sure nothing like this happens to your other pig or future pigs, make sure that everything in the cage is safe to eat incase they take a nibble of somthing. Also know ahead of time where and exotic animalm vet is. Soo sorry <3

  5. I have a guinea pig named Jasper too. I'm so sorry! My worst fear is going to check on the boys and finding one of them dead. I don't even want to think about it.

    Maybe he had heart problems?
