  1. Perhaps they want to work a defined shift and have a family and actually get to spend some time with them.  Why would a person with a 3.96 GPA halfway thru a premed program quit and become an auto mechanic?  Same reason.  Being a Dr is way too much pressure and not for anyone but the workaholic.  Sometimes enough is enough.

  2. I suppose it would depend on this individual's personal reasons.

  3. Maybe they can't deal with the insurance cr@p anymore.

  4. I would assume that being a doctor is very stressful.  An RN probably doesn't have quite as much stress, and also maybe they want to spend more time with the family whereas being a doctor required long hours.

Also, going from a doctor to an RN probably ensured they would still get paid a lot compared to other RNs.

So yeah, the stress factor is probably a big reason.

EDIT:  Why would they just get paid on their nursing experience?  If you had the choice of hiring a brand new RN who used to be a doctor vs an RN of only a couple years, wouldn't you choose the one who used to be a doctor?

I don't actually know, but I think being a doctor would give them much more experience.
