  1. aspirin is a blood thinner if you are taking it you will bleed more freely during the op

  2. if i remember my chem, aspirin in a blood thinner, you may lose more blood depending on the type of surgery

  3. Asprin is one of many pain relievers that thin your blood, this relieves inflamation (which is were blood gathers to heal an injury).  THis also helps heart attack risks by keeping the blood a little thinner so that it wo'nt clot as easily.  When going through surgery, you blood needs to clot where they stick something up, so that it will heal properly.  You will bleed out in surgery if you take a blood thinner...

  4. Aspirin thins the blood...that is why people who have had a heart attack are advised by their doctor to take one 81mg aspirin daily..to decrease the chances of another heart attack.  People who are scheduled for surgery are advised to avoid aspirin to decrease the chances of excess bleeding!

  5. aspirin is a blood thinner. They don't want you to lose excessive amounts of blood.  if you need meds, and advil or aleve would be ok though. You shouls stop aspirin at least two to three days before your surgery.
