Question:

Why would a person write in a different language other than English on Yahoo Answers?

I just noticed that a young Chinese girl wrote her answer to a question in Chinese. I was intrigued yet disturbed because I wanted to know what her answer was. I only understand English and in a way I wish I knew Spanish and Chinese but unfortunatley I never learned. So, then I checked her profile and it was written in Chinese too. I was going to ask her if she could write her questions/answer in Chinese and English...does anyone agree with me on this? Does anyone feel that I'm being selfish for asking people to write in both languages? The person who asked the question wasn't Chinese and I don't know how they could figure out what the answer was.

  1. O_o what ?

    stop being nosy girl

  2. Avec un peu de culture des langues les americains serait plus acceptable.

If the americans would learn to speak more languages they would be accepted by more people.

  3. Well, if the question was in the languages section I think that you can write in the language you want as long you answer the question, it doesn't matter if the other people will understand or not, the answer is something among the answerer and the questioner. If the questioner is satisfied with the answer, although is in a language not the questioner speaks, is up to the questioner to accept it or not. Many times even answering right you get thumbs down by many morons, so, What's the deal? The answerer just need to be conscious that he/she did the best at the moment he/she answered a question. To find out what the answer was, even when it got nothing to do with you, try to make it into a question your self here asking what those words mean.

    PS

    So you can understand:

"We answer in different languages because we are from different countries and we are all here to help each other, no matter what"

    I am from Panama

  6. lol i dont know u should prolly tell her to save people the time of looking it up

  7. maybe she didn't know English (then, how did she read the question she had tried to answer?)! well, I can't put my finger on it now!

  8. Feet : D'accord.

  9. It's an interesting situation, to be sure, but as you point out, may not help the person who asked the question in the first place. It may be possible that the girl can understand English, but doesn't know how to speak it. I actually met someone years ago who could understand Russian and English equally well, so we (my former classmates and I) were able to ask her questions in either language. Unfortunately for some, she was only able to answer in Russian. Of course it helped that we had a Russian teacher (a native of Minsk, Belarus) acting as interpreter during that encounter.
