  1. Normally they wouldn't except to conform to the interest in the community pledge they are supposed to uphold as being a service to the community or 99% of the time on a home grown show where people listen in to discover new live local bands as some get into non commercial music more than others

Best to find a few home grown type shows in the area and go from there

  2. i would try finding a radio dj who is into indie music.. he or she might be able to slip it in... then if the listeners like it and call in to request it, it will get played more.

  3. First, indie stands for independent, right?  It is a term regarding a trend about music, art, movies and publications that somehow decided to do their own thing independent from renowned producers or publications.

So to speak, since the early years of this millennium, many indies  sprout a huge number of success and earn a good reputation from the media and the general public.  Some indie films or music had become indie themselves because some well known publications or producers were too afraid to take chances on them.  It can be likened to the experience of Col. Saunders of KFC and Sylvester Stallone when he was looking for a producer for his film "Rocky".  The main difference of the two from indies is that the latter were not fortunate enough to find a break with producers and were only contented to do it on their own.  Furthermore, a lot of indies are at par with the best contemporary and popular artists and bands.

  4. Because they don't want to play mind numbing crud like pop/r&b/hip hop.... get the drift. So if you do not like it CHANGE stations.
