  1. It's not the dig itself . . . it is like a treasure hunt, the possibility of finding something that gives you a glimpse into another place and time.  It's like digging for pieces of a puzzle - the more pieces you can find to put together the clearer the picture becomes, of the place and time and people you want to find out about.


  2. That is what archaeologists DO. They either start a dig or they attend and assist a dig that is already in progress. They go to school to learn how to go about a dig. Its very complicated work. Maybe you would like to read about it.
