Why would angels need wings to fly if spirits don't need them?

Question

Spirits can go back and forth into other dimensions..supposedly..without wings...so why would angels need them? Also..when people astral travel they don't need them to "fly" ...so why should angels need them? And if people just painted them with wings because they thought they had them because they could fly..then why didn't they paint the spirits who appear to people (saints etc.) with wings too.
