Why would anyone stay where they died?

I see a lot of spirits seem to hang around the place where they die. Wouldn't you rather die at home..in case you have to hang around the place where you died.? I just don't understand why some spirits hang around jails and hospitals and cemeteries . Seems like since they aren't confined to a body, they would travel the world. Can anyone explain this?

  1. ur kinda weird with all these emo questions your asking

  2. makes you wonder what really unfolds on the other side, i guess we all have to wait for our turns, to really know how it all works, and what really happens to us....

  3. Its mostly cuz they're unaware that they're dead or they have unfinished business there.

  4. I can offer a theory if not an explanation. Many people believe that when one experiences an apparition that does the same thing over and over again that one is not seeing a spirit but a recording of that spirit. The idea is that the event is impressed into the atmosphere and the atmosphere serves as a recording. When people with the ability or by chance are tuned to the proper wave length they see the recording that is actually always playing.

Another related theory is that the information is recorded (but not always playing) and certain people pick up the information (still recorded in the atmosphere) via ESP and they then project a ghost (via a hallucination) to bring the information to conscious awareness. This would also explain why photographing ghost would not be possible in this particular idea.

The theories above just make more sense to me than a ghost/spirit hanging around a place of death (and often tragedy) rather than a place of comfort or checking in on loved ones.

Of course all this is going with the idea that spirits exist and there is an afterlife. I personally want to travel the entire universe if I survive death and can defy our current understanding ( not laws which are constructed by people not the universe) of physics.

Wouldn't being able to travel through all of time and space be a little more interesting than haunting a cemetery?

  5. Sure.  Typically they're confused and don't know they're dead.  And to make matters worse, they aren't sure as to how to get out of where they are.  Their most recent memories are tied to the physical spot where they died, so they stay there hoping to find an answer - any answer as to how they can move on.

  6. Some deaths come fast and the spirit is unaware that the body has died. They become lost, scared, and disorientated.

  7. I agree with psiexploration on this one.

I believe there to be two distinct types.-

Residual Hauntings / non sentient / recordings of events are frequenly seen and experienced and seem recorded in a place for eternity. The images involved can be 'read' by sensitive people, and often seen(heard/experienced) in large numbers.

Examples of this would be opening a door to find somone dead/blood only to look again and nothing be there, or a galloping figure just dissapearing into the mist.

Spirit haunting / sentient / active spirits are able to get messages accross - either by noises, flashes of images, possession (using vocal chords) etc and can be contacted directly by mediumistic ability.

In my experience a place will typically have many residual events recorded in it, and may or may not have active spirits.

Some places become almost a spirit magnet - drawing wandering spirits to it - for more than it's fair share.

Some fear judgement, others stay to look after loved ones - but then realise they can come back again to see the next generation. A lot as mentioned before seem confused as to what they want- often not knowing they are dead.

  8. I honestly don't think they have a choice. From research that I have watched and read, most of them don't even know they are dead and go on with their lives as if they are still living and don't even know that we are there.  If they see us, I believe it is as much a surprise to them as it is to us. There are also those who know they are dead and don't know how to deal with it. These are the ones that are either mad or just want revenge or answers for what has happened to them, they are one's that we see and can see us and that wreek havoc and/or seek answers but don't know how to ask.
