  1. Life experience. And It looks better than any job could ever look on you resume.

  2. Just to be a good person and help out the community.

  3. i think you know, satisfaction of helping those in need, making new friends, and the list goes on.

  4. A lot of people do it for their resume and a lot do it because its something to do,  plus it's volunteer, even if you volunteer at a profit organization, they still don't pay you.

    What's the difference?

  5. Well, I know alot of people do it to make their resumes look good.  But some people do it because they have have an interest or passion for what they are doing.

  6. This is a silly question when it says volunteer maybe you should stay away from anything that is posted with that sign. Some people get their rewards back from God by doing this and it is also a good feeling to help someone once in a while. You mean to tell me you have never helped a kid learn how or tie their shoes, hang a curtain for your Grndmthr or mom!

  7. I have always done it for very selfish reasons.  It makes you feel all wonderful inside!  What better contribution can you make to society than helping someone?

It makes me upset when some celebrity are themselves touched with a disease and then go do charity work for it.  Where were they before?

We need more Angelina's and Brad's in this world!

  8. Is it hard to believe that such a person can be so selfless? I give props to those who are willing to share time and talent, and they are definitely not leaving empty-handed. Not only are they gaining experience and skills,  they get the satisfaction that comes with helping others.

  9. Experience.

    I volunteered in a 3rd world country.

What you take away with you are memories money can't buy.

The human experience of actually putting yourself in someone else's shoes/helping them in the smallest ways that you possibly can, only makes you feel alive/less deadened inside.

Of course, for people who don't value other human beings, those who think selfishly, they don't really give a c**p anyway.. Why should they?

  10. Working experience that will allow you to work for another organization that may hire you because you did the voluntary work before.

Or a different working experience, some people just want to get away of their 9 to 5 kind of life for a while to do something not so common such as going to Africa to help the children or the animals.

And other reason may be an ego trip, to raise their selfsestime and then when they come back to their country they can pretend their are cool when talking to their friends.

  11. volunteering is doing something.

you might think, who cares if i don't help the victimes in myanmar, or the refugees in Darfur, or even the environment.

there are other people out there who are doing what they can but one more person makes such a big difference.  isnt the sight and knowledge of helping someone enough?  You could be saving a life, doing something with your useless life to give someone hope to have a better one.  You give someone else, and yourself a reason to live better.  you fulfill the people and places you help and you fulfill yourself.  also you raise awareness to spread volunteerism to actually make a drastic change eventually.

  12. Experience. It looks really good on a resume. Plus, its nice doing good deeds for other people.

  13. the satisfaction of helping others maybe?

  14. the satisfaction of knowing you helped make someone's day (sometimes even their life) easier. that's why its VOLUNTEER work, not a job. obviously you are not the kind of good hearted person that would volunteer, judging by the way your question was worded

  15. i did a lot of volunteering just for the experience and to help out in my extra time

  16. It gives you something good to put on your resume, it gives you satisfaction in working for a cause, and it gives you something good to do with your time

  17. satisfaction of helping people in need! especially if they are children!

  18. Its the satisfaction of knowing you did something good out of kindness, not to get something out of it. Its a way to give back to your community.
