there have been bees swarming around inside the garage attached to the house I rent and they are inside the wall and the insulation and I've seen bees outside all of the windows (why I hate plants and flowers which the landlord has) I have also seen them bang into the windows like they try to get in. Currently I've captured 3 bees. After the third bee (they are very huge) I figured logical explanation of them getting in was out. I discovered that bees fly up to the upstairs window and goes inside the casing and inside the wall. I really can't find anything big enough for them to sneak through and can't figure it out. I'm hoping they stop coming in but what do they do at night will they bother us while we sleep if they are inside? It is creeping me out. All three bees were by the same window as well. Looked like a queen bee but son reminded me that they stay in the nest and only the workers leave. Unless it is a hornet ( I reconize hornets though) but it is pretty big.

  1. Why would bees come into houses and inside walls?

Simply put, to build a nest.

It sounds like you have Carpenter Bees. They are larger than standard "honey bees" and do fly into glass on occasion. A great tool to swat them with is a tennis racket, works great!

What they do is "bore" a hole into wood and tunnel into the wood for their nest. What we do is find the hole and spray some fog type or regular insecticide inside. they will fall out and die. Here is some information on them;  http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfact...

    Hope this was helpful,  ;-)

Add'l details; if you now see a nest, then they are not carpenter bees.

Luckily, the nest is not within a wall. If it's a manageable size nest, wait until it's nighttime and then douse it with Wasp and Hornet spray. It has a very fast knockdown and has a very heavy streaming spray.

Check it the next day for any activity, for a follow up dose. If you don't see any activity, go ahead and knock down the nest, and discard it in a plastic garbage bag.

    Problem solved!!!

    Good Luck

  2. The answer to your question is yes, bees, wasps or hornets can and do make massive nests inside walls of homes. It is surprising how they can find ways to get inside as there are probably many more openings into the home then most people are aware of. This is not to say there is a nest in your walls, but there may be, only a real professional can examine it and tell.

These insects return to the nests at night, and that is when the greatest number of them are there. It is possible for them to pose a danger to those in the home especially if the nest is agitated.

Since you have a landlord, I strongly suggest you have him get a professional exterminator to evaluate the situation and eliminate the nest if it exists. If the landlord gives you a problem, contact you local housing court, or a housing lawyer and seek advice as to how to force your landlord since if there is a nest, it is a dangerous situation.
