Why would he call me after so long?

I dated (it was long distance and wasn't "technically" relationship) this guy like 5-6 years ago...it didn't last long...we've stayed friends since then. He moved out of the state 3-4 years ago and we haven't really kept in touch. Then...out of the blue, he emails me and told me he's coming back here and to give him my number. I didn't get this for a while, until he was gone...when i eventually talked to him, he told me he was living with someone and he thought that after he got out of Basic for the airforce, he might propose to her...

He was talking to me behind her back though and he called me right before he left to go to basic...why would he call me after we haven't talked for so long? Especially if he is sneaking behind his g/f's back to do it...

I think he honestly don't know what he wants and he figures that your someone he knew from the past that could help him get his old ways out before he gets married...

he might have realized that he misses you and just wants to see whats new.or he may want to keep in touch now but his g/f might not want him talking to another girl.

     He just realized that he loves you and wants to find out if there are feelings for him too.
