Question:

Why would my cameras memory card suddenly read card error on my camera on my camera screen?

i was at a wedding and taking pictures. i turned the camera off because dinenr came. then about 20 mnutes later turned my camera back on and the screen frooze when i too the first picture. i turned the camera off. turned it back on and the screen stayed black and said card error. i turned the camera off and took the card out. turned camera back on and it was fine to use its internal memory. when we got home we put another card in and it was fine. what can cause a card to suddently go bad? how can i get the card fixed?

  1. I would buy a good name brand card and format it to your camera.


  2. When was the last time you Formatted your memory card? The most likely reason your card has errors is because you have not formatted your memory card regularly.

    All new cards should be formatted before you use them the first time...and also everytime you need to delete all images in one go. So, ONLY format AFTER all images have been transferred to your computer.

    If you have images on the bad card that you need, you will most likely have to use recovery software to try and recover them. A card reader is also required. The link below has a free recovery program...

    p.s. Formatting is done in the MENU of your camera. Check your user manual for help if you don't know how it's done.
