Why would my car misfires after about 20 min of driving?

Question

i have a 95 jetta with 145K on it and my car seems to misfire everytime i drive for more than 20 min. since the jetta is manual, all i have to do to make it work right is turn off and on the ignintion and the car is good to drive for another 20 min. i bought the car at an auction with 130K on it so i dont really know its history. i just changed out the fuel pump and filter about 3 months ago. does anybody have any ideas why the car would misfire after about 20 min of driving?

it could also be your distrbutor cap

could be a faulty plug wire or plug or  fuel injector if you have fuel injection
