Why would my case of a construction injury be sent straight to the supreme courts?

Although the US Supreme Court has jurisdiction of being a court of first impression, it rarely happens.

We need more facts; if it is a work-related injury, it probably falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the workers compensation courts. If it is a civil suit, it would probably be tried at the Superior Court level; unless you live in New York, where the Superior Court is actually called the Supreme Court.
