1995 geo prizm, we changed the the break light and now every time the break petal is pushed the dashboard lights come on. If you push the petal when the car is not on(or no key in) the alarm beeps to let you know your inside dash lights(or outside lights) are still on until you let go of the petal. All we did was replace the break light.

  1. You may have replaced the brake light with an incorrect bulb.   Takes a twin filament bulb on a brake light usually.

Take it out and have it checked for the proper one at a car parts place like Autozone or Pep Boys.

  2. Short in the Main Harness under the Dash, Find a "Good Auto-Electric Shop"

  3. bad relay

  4. OR, you have a short in your wiring harness!!!!

  5. You have a messed up brake light socket or the wrong bulb. When you put the brakes on, the 12 volts to the brake light is getting shorted to the tail light wire and back to the dash lights.
