My dog has had fleas for quite awhile now and I finally got the stuff to treat it. I also vacummed the bed, floors, etc and than went to treat my cat and he had none! Why is this?

  1. I myself have had a very bumpy past with the resilient tiny creatures, the flea. Both cat and dog fleas are similar  and can live on either species, therefore unless your cat has sort of natural resistance to fleas which I doubt, he has them! Or at least the eggs and/or larvae, which are even harder to kill than the adults. You might just not be finding them because of darker fur, better hiding places, or the cat is at a different phase of infestation. Do not let your guard down; treat your cat, dog, and home flea problem seriously because once one animal is infested consider all the household animals to be. That is how you will win your war with the painfully enduring bugs! Good luck.

  2. Fleas prefer unhealthy animals.  Which is not to say that your dog is decrepit, but perhaps your cat is in blooming good health where your dog is merely adequately healthy.

It's not unheard of anyway.  Last year one of my cats had fleas and the other did not.

  3. Fleas are always looking for a good host..Doesnt matter if your dog or cat is healthy or unhealthy...If there is fur on their body, and blood running through their veins, then there will be fleas...Could be something in your cats blood, that is repelling them, or maybe they are hiding in a good spot on the cat, where you cant see them...Its always a good idea to put some frontline, or advantage to protect them.
