Question:

Why would my finch be plucking the other finches feathers off its back?

they have been together for 3months and never had this problom,is it a part of mating?

  1. it could be. but birds preen themselves when they are bored. if a bald spot occurs on the bird from the other one pecking at it - SEPERATE THEM 4 ALIITLE BIT. I had a cockitille and my bird stripped its wings apart because it was bored. I was too busy with school to play with it a lot, so I had to get rid of it. :( If it becomes a problem the vet will give you something to stop the birds. They will lose a lot of feathers anyway, it is part of bathing, shedding, and im sure courting. so don't freak, but watch it, you won't want a naked bird. lol.
