Question:

Why would my insurance company say my car is not garaged in Maryland?

I just got a notice in the mail that my insurance is being canceled in July because "it is not garaged in Maryland for more than 10 months per year."

I don't get it. What would give them this idea? Why would they say this? I live with my mother in Maryland, I work in Maryland. I do go to Penn State, but I commute to a campus near home.

Wtf?

Can someone please explain this?

  1. I recommend you locate a nearby car insurance agent to help. Since I live in South Dakota I can't recommend anyone in Maryland, but here is an website that can help you. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Auto-I...

    Good Luck.

  2. insurance co. are getting worse if it was me i would just fined another one good luck

  3. Just like if they suspect you of any kind of fraud, they have to prove it so I would ask for the proof and if they come up with pictures or something then spread the word to everyone and do what you can to make them lose business.

  4. Why worry? Start looking for alternative insurance, if you do a good search, chances are you'll save yourself some money too as these people you are with don't sound too shrewd to me.

  5. Being a Maryland resident I would call and talk to the insurance rep to ask what they base their information on and then you will be able to render the correct answers needed to correct this matter.

  6. You have told them, or their investigation has revealed, that you are not a resident of the state of Maryland.  What state do you pay state income tax in?  That is where you live.  It also affects what state your license and registration is in.

But if you're interested in WHY they are saying that, call and ask.  No out out here can tell you.

  7. They probably found out that you are a student in another state.  (shouldn't matter, if you are full time).  You must call them and find out what they are basing the cancellation on.
