Why would my package go from TN to GA when I live in NC?

  1. It has to go through there. Its the way all the major companies do it. Sorry.


  2. UPS, like major airlines, have HUBS where in-transit packages are routed through. As long as your package gets there, it doesn't matter if it was routed thru GA, Columbus OH, Chicago, or Timbuktu.

    I do not know if Federal Express still does it or now, but at one time ALL FedEx packages were routed thru their main  hub in Nashville or Memphis (can't remember which)....

  5. It probably went to a routing center in GA. All the big shippers use major routing hubs. They send all the packages there for certain parts or all parts of the country, and then ship everything out from there.  

    These hub and spoke systems are more efficient than direct routing. That's why the big airlines use hubs (for people) as well.
