Ok, so I got my first tattoo today and right after it felt like I had a really bed burn. And it didn't go away for awhile. While now I feel the area of the tattoo and the skin is warm to touch. Is this ok? Normal?

  1. The skin is just inflamed from the tattoo's abrasion to your skin.  You just got it TODAY.  Wait 48 hours- it will subside.  Use the correct protective cream to avoid infection.  If you still have concerns in 2 days, see a doctor.

  2. Considering you got it today its probably just irritated... and will be for awhile.

Keep in mind though that warmth in a concentrated area can be a sign of infection... infections take a few days to develop though so that's most likely not the problem. Just a good thing to remember with body mods :)

  3. yes its normal..it will take a day or 2 for the heat to go away.

if it bothers you enough, you can get witch hazel(hemorrhoid wipes) and just gently pat on it. it should help cool it off.

  4. Yes it is normal, thats just how it feels afterwards :)

  5. Yes, that is normal and okay.

Getting a tattoo requires the skin to get very irritated, causing it to swell up and whatnot.

Just like, say, you scratched one spot on your body constantly, it would get irritated, and get warm.

It just takes a while for the skin to heal where the tattoo is.
