Why would my watch say the alarm is on, yet not be working?

The watch beeps when I push buttons. The alarm goes off when I use the countdown timer. Yet this brand new Athletic Works watch will not "sound the alarm" when I set it!

I keep setting it for a 2, 3, 5 minutes away to test it, and nothing happens. Do I -really- have to return this silly thing or what?

Malfunctionings, return to the watch dealer to rectify the problems. Bring along your purchased receipt to justify your claims.
