Everybody knows the story everyone knows how it end.

  1. Oprah's playing Romeo and Juliet?

Wow, she sure loves making money.

She should maybe sponsor a theatrical "OPERA" on Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet dont you think?

Oh, I know Lark, I was hoping Ayiza would be the one to recognise his mistake, but thanks sweety

  2. Do we not sit at the feet of our fathers while they tell us the stories of Zimbabwe before the white man came? And do we not hear these stories again and again, until we know them by heart, and can tell them in turn to our children? And will our children not sit in their turn and tell them to their children, and will they not tell them too? Yet we all have heard these stories before, and know how they go and how they end, but that does not stop us enjoying them and respecting them.

  3. It is actually magical going to operas and you enjoy them even more if you know the storyline. If you have not been to one, go and experience it. The decor, make-up, clothing and acting all plays an important part in the success and once you are hooked, you will go again and again.

  4. You really mean "opera", and that is quite different to Oprah.....

Anyway, it has to do with the love of music, not the story line.....

It could be about the three little pigs for all I care, but the music is the attraction, nothing else.

  5. Its an arts/culture thing.

    Its a classic.

There's a demand in the market for it, otherwise they wouldn't bother  with financial risk.

One has to look beyond just the story to appreciate the performances.

Evidence of this is in audience turnout.

  6. Venus, I think he meant opera.

Well, the same can be said about books being made into movies and theatre pieces, like the Harry Potter series, books by Stephen King and many more. I think people like to see if they visualised the book correctly. Why do people watch movies when they know what's going to happen and how it's going to end? It's just nice and relaxing to watch these things. It's part of human nature.

  7. Aziya, the word is "OPERA". "Oprah" is some American television presenter.

If you are unable to enjoy the arts, that is your loss. If the only reason to see a production is to find out how it ends, then why, for example, do you listen to the same piece of music several times? Because you enjoy the music itself, not just the story it may tell.

    Sometimes I pity you, really.

  8. It is more for the interpretation of the story, how the actors portray the various characters.  Most people know the story, but many opera lovers, and those who enjoy classics, will see such things over and over again.  Like it or leave it, I say. I agree with you, that once I have seen it, then I do not have to see it again. But many more will disagree with that.

  9. The word is "opera" Ayiza.

Why should one ever read a book? Watch a film?  Why should anyone bother about Mandela's 90th, everyone knows he was in prison for 27 years and that now he is 90.

I am surprised at you asking such an ignoramus' question.
