I'm pretty sure its out of spite..but I'd like some second opinions.

Random facts:

--I haven't been able to give them as much wet feed lately. They get wet at night and they can free feed all day.

-- Their litter was need maintenance but it wasn't unreasonable.

-- It happened when I left to go get my house mates lunch this morning (after giving them dry food).

--My larger cat (18.5 pounds of muscle) has all ways been hungry lately.. he seems to beg for wet food every 7 hours.. am i not feeding him enough canned food?

  1. trust me i know exactly why this is happening. i had the exact problem with my cats. we had six cats at the time and there ended up pee and cat p**p around the house and we didnt know which cat it was from. so what we did was locked each cat in the bathroom by themselves for 3 days. and ofcourse we gave them food and their own litter box. we did that to see if one of them would pee on the bathroom floor. but then none of them did. so we didnt know what was going on. then i said maybe its cause no one wanted to scoop the litter box. so we scooped the litter box more often and the peeing stopped. so thats most likely the reason.

there is one more possibility. one of my older cats just died about a month ago... she was 19 years old in human years. she was really old and couldnt get in the litter box so she had to pee on the floor. but it was because she was old. then about a week later she died. but i highly doubt its cause of a medical condition. probably from not cleaning the litter box... hope this helps:-)

  2. It could be possible that the bedroom door was shut, and your cat couldn't get out to do its business. Do you have a cat flap? If you don't maybe get one and make sure you leave the bedroom door open so it can get out when it needs to.

  3. mad at you, because you didn't rub his ears before you left.....

  4. Urinating on an object claims ownership.

A dirty litter box will cause a feline to look elsewhere for relief.

  5. It was probably a territory thing, but I've also found that some of my cats won't use the litter tray unless it's absolutely pristine, so the reason could lie there also.

Is he stressed?  My sisters cat pees on the sofa when she is stressed.

Feeding-wise, my male cat constantly begs for food.  He's the perfect size for his weight so I'm pretty sure that stems from greed rather than hunger.  They do say that a neutered male cat is likely to pile on the pounds due to eating too much...

The only other explanation would be medical - if he continues to do it when the litter tray is clean, and there is no apparent threat that would lead him to feel the need to mark his territory then i would get a vet to check him over and make sure he doesn't have an infection.  If he has a UTI they can become very serious very quickly, so make sure you keep an eye on him for the next couple of days.

  6. Is there another cat around? Your cat may be marking its territory. Wet food once in awhile is ok but its not as good for the cat as good dry food.

  7. get your cats checked for a urinary tract infection and diabetes.

99% of the time a cat pee's outside the box it is because of a medical condition.

  8. I suppose because the litter box isn't clean, specially if your cats are so clean.
