I know each tire has different characteristics but why do it? One tire might be better on a certain circuit but the other worse. Also the team could not share tire info. It seems like a pain for the team. Will Rossi be that much better on the Bridgestones? I haven't seen to many races so be easy on me.

  1. For me two type of tyres and two great riders is bringing a bigger chance for podiums and wins. (you know that sometimes Michelin are better than Bridgestone and sometimes the opposite...)

As for Rossi going to Bridgestone, it was about time. He was really pissed at Michelin because of the trouble he had this season... But Wiggy is right that it is not only the tyres the Fiat Yamaha team needs, it's the whole pacage... The bike needs to improve!

  2. The michelins this year pretty much blew, they werent ready to perform to the new tire rules. As for next year maybe they'll figure it out and it may be a mistake to be on bridgestones. Rossi needs good tires to compete because unfortunately the Yamaha is consistently the slowest motogp bike year in and year out. Rossi is fantastic but he cant make up the performance deficit on substandard tires.

  3. Money, rider preference or style...  lots of reasons.

Rossi's in "grass is greener" mode, looking at Stoner's tires.  Other riders didn't have near as much success on the Bridgestones as Stoner (i.e. Capirossi), so I'm not sure why he'd push for them.  He'll do better because Yamaha gives him a better bike, not because of tires.  If Yamaha doesn't deliver, tires won't matter.  It seems to me the only guy who'd really benefit from Bridgestones would be Hayden, since the superior Bridgestone front tire would go along with his preference for throwing it in on the front end.

Most teams are split fairly distinctly anyway, so the "wall" between Rossi and Lorenzo shouldn't be that big of a deal.  Edwards and Rossi rarely shared data, since they rode the bikes in such different ways it never helped.  Hayden and Pedrosa might as well be on separate teams with the lack of sharing in the Repsol garage; once again due to incompatible riding styles.

  4. Rossi Was Not Happy With Michelins this season, for the simple fact he hasnt won the championship in two seasons the 2007 reason mainly the tires and he was being dominated by the bridgestones success and of course h**l be fast on them HES ROSSI!!!!

  5. I really dont think it matters which tyres Rossi is on for 2008.

The " package " is what he needs to beat.

It will be very intresting to see how tomorrows ( tuesday ) testing goes.

First ride on the Yammy for Lorenzo, first ride for Vale on Bridgestone.

    Watch this space!

  6. I wonder if it's because most teams have riders with differing strengths or, it might be that they would want to test out different combinations to see how they perform.

I don't think Rossi's problem is the tires.  It's always the bike that has problems.  I hate it for him.
