Why would people overthrow their government?

Should Americans consider this an option?

The American government is wonderful. It is the stupid officials in Washington, DC. that are messing it up. Yes I believe we should have a revolution. Lets fire the whole bunch of them and start over.

This will only work if we fire ALL OF THEM. Never vote for anyone who has held office more than two terms. Good or Bad, get rid of them and start over.

It is only with new blood ever 3-6 years that we can truly fix the mess in Washington.

When the government is no longer functioning to serve the people but only to empower itself against the people.

They would do that because if the government is not doing a good job governing the people. They could not do a good job by not governing the people, raising taxes too high, or endangering the people. Hope this helps.

Not right now. The government has messed up, but we elected them fairly. it's our fault. And now some people want to re-elect the party they're unsatisfied with in office at this very moment, HMMMM

Jefferson thought we should do it every twenty years with a Constitutional Convention.

Personally I think that we have a new government every two years anyway.  Congressional elections.  So.... Nevermind.

When the elected officials no longer represent the views of the people and instead pander to the interests of corporate conglomerates.  Unfair taxation like Income Tax.  When the government gives control of the country's money supply to a private organization.  When the government violates it's own laws.  When the government attacks it's own people.  When the government lies to it's own people to make them fight their financially motivated wars.

Lot's of reasons.  If we don't apply pressure, or at least do something, we will look weak in their eyes and they'll continue to oppress and manipulate us.  We can get Bush once he's out of office, the American people should file a class action law suit against him.  Vincent Bugliosi is charging Bush with 4,000 counts of murder, the people should try him too.

Hopefully his trial will bring to light some evidence we can use to impeach Congress.

People overthrow the government because they have a real problem with it.

Either they are part of a fascist movement which is like the democrats are  forming in the US and have been for the last few decades ... Or the government really puts a hurting on them to the point they feel it's worth it to fight.

The people of the US living under the best conditions in the world don't have a lot to complain about. They do get worked up and angry because they are manipulated by those who are in power and wish to hold more power. The pissed off people in the US are dupes of a 2 party system which keeps them angry and fighting to keep them in support of one side and against another, which serves both sides and keeps them in power.
