Can't they just apply great pressure to the skull instead. Less brain damage that way.

  1. To increase bone density and they use bag's with beans first then later advance to rock and so on.... and i don't think applying great pressure to the head will work because it's more likely to damage.

  2. You will first know of brain damage by the unstoppable urge to answer all question with Der.

You will also begin to notice a saliva trail flowing from the corner of your mouth (which side is not a variable)

if death occurs consult a physician as you may have hit your head to hard or too many times.

I hope this clears up any confusion you may be experiencing

  3. Because a head butt is a Shaolin technique of self-defense.

The Shaolin also beat their arms against each other to increase bone density in the forearms and form calcium deposits.  Shaolin does not distinguish a block from a strike.  The same with the skull, head beating against heavy bags increases the bone density of the skull.

But you do it gradually over time so you slowly develop an increase in bone density and not cause brain damage.

  4. "Why would shaolin monks beat their heads against heavy bags to harden their skulls?"

    "to harden their skulls!"

But also, they have to train the vertabrae, so they don't break their necks.
