  1. Maybe they don't like the British way of life / principles / laws / etc. people are entitled to their opinions.

I'd reject a Chinese honour for example, I wouldn't want to be associated with a government that flagrantly abuses human rights. Not that I'm in any danger of getting one of course.

  2. what is a british honour ?

  3. Because some people feel they do not need an honour in acknowledgement of what they have achieved.Someone once said "why give me a title just for doing my job".when there are thousands of others out there doing exactly the same without the same acknowledgement.

  4. Because they are pointless and worthless, that's why!

The whole honour system in this country stinks, as do the people who award them!

  5. Well as only British people can be awarded such things as a knighthood or peerage, apart from those foreigners that are unable to use it; they cannot call themselves Sir for instance ,certain people won't accept the honour. Some black bloke turned down an award because he said it had connotations with slavery. I think the whole system is abused anyway,I think of a knight as someone who takes arms against an enemy. We now have the ludicrous Elton John being called Sir !Should be Dame !

  6. They might not see the value in a gong; they may think they are sending a message to the government by doing so; they already have one?

  7. usually to get in the paper

sometimes because they do not agree with idea of royalty, however there was a famous guy who did not want his in the 60's but then changed his mind recently but was told it was too late!!

By the way for those who asked - a british honour eg CBE,, MBE or knighthood is awarded to people who have served Britian - either in war, services to charity, to textiles (my dad got CBE for this), for services to schools or a vareity of reason.

    Make Brucie a knight

  8. Not everyone believes in British Honor, especially with the Battenbergs doling them out.

  9. they're probably scottish

  10. As an act of outrage at others chosen. e.g. Some fuddy duds handed their awards back, after The Beatles were awarded the OBE in the 60s.

  11. Depends on many things.  If I had to bow to the queen in order to receive it, I just might.  I'm not too sure about bowing to anyone.

  12. Who did that? Maybe some sort of rebellious statement towards the Red coats, I mean British.

  13. Because the whole 'honours' system is corrupt, outdated and pointless.

  14. As a symbolic statement against the crown or government.

  15. principle.... tony benn renounced his lordship as he's a socialist... i think john lennon handed back his MBE but what for i cannot remember,,,

  16. Im assuming you mean if they are knighthood or MBE, like John Lennon got I think knighthood but sent it back after Britain was involved in something he was against !

  17. because its just chavi sh*t. lol

  18. Errr... because they don't want it. Not that difficult to contemplate.

  19. Depends if I'm pissed or not.

  20. It is normally beacause the recipient is making a point to the Government - eg they disagree with a policy or something.  In the last couple of years a few Lordships were refused as the recipients were implicated in the cash for hon ours row.

  21. 1. Ignorance.

    2. Doesn't value it.

  22. Is that tea? I never reject tea.

  23. A matter of good taste,perhaps?
