  1. Modesty is always nice.

  2. what is wrong with being proud?  I am proud of a lot of things i have accomplished.  I am proud of family & friends.  Someone who "accuses" is just plain ole jealous.

  3. I have heard this said, but think that the person concerned meant the one they were criticising was 'arrogant' rather than proud.

Having pride in one's self is a good thing, but being overly proud can lead to arogance and to being uncaring of the feelings of others.

That may be what the accuser is suggesting.

Or, they may be someone who feels others should be lower than they, and should not act as an equal person in the world.

It depends on the context of the accusation.

    Cheers :-)

  4. Say it loud I'm g*y & I'm proud...haha

  5. Because they feel the pride is undeserved in which case it could also be arrogance.

Just speculating here, perhaps you totally deserve it. I don't know..

  6. What's wrong with being proud? Pride in things you earned and accomplished isn't something to be accused of, it's to be human. We all take pride in things - family, friends, finishing college, finishing a book, whatever!

  7. Being proud is a good thing. Who ever says it's bad has nothing to be proud about themselves.

  8. Because that person who is accusing has been beaten to believe co dependency is the way to go,....they are taught to hate themselves and that others come before themselves...seriously. My mother would be the queen of codependency.

Enjoy being proud sweetie....you earned it...It's their problem not yours

  9. There's nothing wrong with being proud. There's something wrong with being vain. There's a difference.

"'Pride,' observed Mary, who piqued herself upon the solidity of her reflections, 'is a very common failing I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self-complacency on the score of some quality or other, real or imaginary. Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us." - Pride & Prejudice
