insecurity, they need their ego boosted to feel good.

To gain confidence or to be reassured that they look good. Of course it could be lack of self confidence but not necessarily. I often like to be reassured by my friends. I like to see if the shirt I'm wearing really looks "good" or it really looks "bad". Next time you fish for a compliment ask yourself why your doing it. know everyone does it once in a while. :D

Because they are insecure and can't realize they look good on their own. No self confidence, yaddy yadda.
