Giving away secrets gives the perpetrator a sense of importance and power; and may (MAY) enhance opportunities for making friends by sheer entertainment...and people often feel better about themselves by pointing to the misdeeds of others as misdirection and comparison (I'm better than him).

If you learn of a tidbit in confidence, telling that secret is a betrayal. If you learn of a tidbit indirectly, telling that secret can be attributed to the source and not the teller (although poor logic).

Essentially, the reason someone does this is a result of a lack of self-worth or the desire to inflict harm.

Sometimes people have no boundaries it is like they can't stop themselves. They don't intend to be hurtful but they just have a problem....Now another reason could be the person wants attention & wants to look like they are special for knowing all this info. so they say it cause they think it makes them look important.

Maybe this person didn't feel he had a real confidant, and felt the very natural need to discuss whatever is on his mind.

Because they aren't your friend and they are doing it to hurt you and or get back at you, keep your secrets to yourself or someone you can really trust.

The person doesn't care about the safeness about the other person and just doses around and telling information. He/she doesn't care about the personal idea's, also maybe that person is a person without common sense and doesn't have a mind of their own.

Is the information about the person who's sharing it? well for starters people crave attention. alot of people will do anything to get themselves noticed or to impress people, i would watch myself aound this person though if they are saying all these things about themselves just imagine what they would say about you!

Some people have poor boundaries and cant help themselves. Also it can be a feature of the condition OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) or the person might just be a bit simple.

It's definitely hard to keep it all bottled up and never tell anyone. But I would only tell someone I really trusted.
