Why would someone marry on a Friday?

Getting married on a week day is cheaper then getting married on the weekends and friday is close to the weekend so it is an easy day for people to take off to attend the wedding.

Everyone usually gets married on Saturdays, venues are usually cheaper on every other day...maybe it was a money issue or a date issue. Who knows..if that's what the couple wants or needs to do, they should do it...they just need to realize that it may mean less attendance b/c it clashes with peoples schedules....

Fridays and sundays are usually a little cheaper than saturday weddings so for one it saves money. Also if the wedding is at the 'prime' time of the year when everyone is tying the knot, all saturdays for the next 3 months may be booked up! It just depends.

People marry on Fridays to save money, usually. Or to get an evening time at a church that only has day times on Saturday.

Well it's cheaper! Also, you can party. Most people have a reception after a wedding and being that Saturday is the day that some people either don't work or have later hours, they can stay and party longer. If it were on a Saturday you might have to leave early to attend church or something the next day. If on Sunday work is the next day.

I got married on a Thursday, but we eloped.  I don't really like attending Friday weddings just because you usually have to take a day off work, kids a day off school, to get ready and travel to the ceremony location.  I think Friday weddings are fine if the vast majority of the guest list live in the area.  Maybe the bride and groom could only get the hall rental, catering, etc that day? It also might be a bit cheaper for everything on a Friday vs a Saturday.

If you mean this particular Friday it all has to do with the number 8. In the Chinese culture the number 8 is lucky. August is the 8th month this past Friday was the 8th and it is the 8th year of  this centry. That equals three 8s which is even more lucky.

Fridays can be much cheaper for people to planning the wedding. Also if they planned on taking a honeymoon on a cruise they leave at certain times.

I much prefer a Friday night wedding to a Sunday night one. Most people are ready to blow off some steam and have a good time on Friday night, whereas Sunday night they are thinking about work the next day.

I am getting married on a Friday, and for us it was much cheaper to have it on a Friday then on a Saturday.  Besides too, it gives us a day in between to settle before we have to leave on our honeymoon!  It was also two years from the day we got engaged!!

Sometimes it's actually cheaper to book a Friday rather than a Saturday.  Also, if Saturday is booked the weekend the couple wanted, usually the first night they'll check is Friday.  Sometimes the couple particularly want a specific date, and they don't care what day of the week it falls on.  My sis in law wanted to be married on June 21, and the year she married, it was on a Wednesday.
