Chlamydia.

A girl in my science class is named Chlamydia.

Please don't give me any of that "It's none of your business what other people name their kids!"

That's the name of a freakin' STD, people! Why would you do that to your kid? Seriously, tell me...why??

  1. I like the sound of the word, but the connotations are all wrong for a young women to be burdened with.

Does she have a brother named Syphilis?

  2. that sounds totally weird and to make it worse, she's named after an STD?

  3. most likly they named there child this because the wanted there child to have a one of a kind name that nobudy els would kame there cild

  4. I was almost named Genital Warts Kleinsasser III.

  5. Ack!  That's a horrid name!  It's not like a nickname would help either, I mean what are you going to call her, "Clam"?

Apparently Chlamydia's parents are not that smart because they must not know what it means, or they are just that stupid.  Does she have any brothers and sisters?  What are their names, Syphillis and Jock-Itch?

I feel sorry for that poor girl.

  6. riiiiight...

  7. Yeah I wouldn't do that but honestly we have no business telling someone else what they can do.  Adversity reveals charactor.  Maybe they will be great because of the things that happen to them as a result of this.  I've got a better one for you though.  The government just stole someones child from the hospital and declared that they were abusing the child because the name they wanted to put on the birth certificate.  Where do you draw the line?  personally I think that a lot of black families name their child some retarded names to be different but that isn't a reason to take the child away.  The name they wanted to give thier child was Talula doesthehulainhawaii.  Do I agree that's a good name?  no.  Do I think that the government has a right to tell what you can name your child?  No ******* way.  Why didn't they take that actresses kids for naming her Talula Bell then?  Like I said where do you draw the line?  Better to just not meddle in the affairs of others.  It just breeds dissent.  Personally if the government took my child because they didn't agree with the name, I might just become hostile and homicidal.

  8. Yea it sounds pretty but then when I found out what that meant I felt like an idiot. I'm not going to be one of those people who says "stay out of it", just to let you know.

I feel really bad for the girl actually, im sure she is sooo embarrased and mayb even ashamed. If she was my friend I would give her a nickname that wouldn't even relate to her real name. or i might just call her Lydia. tht sounds alot nicer, and has a nice meaning behind it.

and no i would never do that to my kid, lol. tht would be absolutley terrible!

  9. She's a gift that keeps on giving perhaps...

  10. Greta has Chlamydia in her class...

    That is just terrible.

  11. That's really messed up! Why would someone do that to their own child. What kind of name is that?

  12. That's weird

  13. Because the parents were on drugs or maybe mentally unstable ! Please be extra nice to her . A name does`nt define a person

  14. That is cruel. Don't parents even care about ridicule? Were they never kids? Sorry about the question within an answer but it really gets under my skin.

There are too many parents trying to be clever now and all they're doing is setting up their kids for endless teasing when childhood and teenager(hood) is tough enough already.

    Errrrr...why

  15. Some people just want to draw attention to themselves. Could Jason Lee really just love the name Pilot Inspektor for his son? Or did Paula Yates look at her baby daughter and think, "she really looks like a Heavenly Haraani Tiger Lily?'

People do this to please themselves with no regard for the effect it will have on the childs life.

I feel very bad for Chlamydia.

  16. oh d*mn

    that sucks!!

  17. Maybe they are really ignorant people and didn't look up the name and have had zero s*x education in their live's.

I wonder where in the world this girl lives...I'd hate to make assumptions...I'll just keep those assumptions to myself ;)

  18. Poor girl! Its not her fault her parents we're on drugs when they named her! I would go by like Cam or something or Lydia!

  19. It's merely a statement against society.  Her parents took it out on their kid.  I think it's terrible!

  20. LOL Lemony...idk...that's messed up!

  21. My old English teacher told me told me that she met a girl names Chlamydia. Maybe it is the same girl since there can't be 2 sets of parents dumb enough to call their kid that.

  22. Aww!! Poor girl :(

On Yahoo! News, there was some girl named Taula Does The Hula and another named Fish and Chips lol :)

  23. That's a shame. My sister had her first baby on April first, and named her daughter Josephine. Her last name is King, so if they call her Jo, She will be known as Jo King. Since she was born on April Fool's day, that would be kind of funny, but all I can think of with a name like Chlamydia is, maybe the boys will think twice about trying to talk her into something when she is a teenager...

  24. Lol. Ummm... they liked that name? I don't know who in their right mind would name a child that. I can't even pronounce it. XD

  25. Those parents must have a STD fetish, I bet her sisters and brothers have names such as that as well, poor kids.

  26. Some thoughts:

A woman named her kid Temptress when she actually intended to name her after Tempest Bledsoe. She wasn't intelligent enough to know that the name was Tempest, and she didn't know what the word "temptress" meant.

Maybe she heard a name and thought it was actually "Clamydia" instead of... I dunno, Karishma?

Also, there's some guy out there named Loser Lane, his brother was named Winner. Funny because now Winner Lane is a career criminal and Loser Lane is a cop. His dad named them that because he thought it would be funny.

Some people don't care enough about their kids to even come up with a good name. Teenage mothers come to mind. Maybe she is named after a special gift her mother received from her father!

  27. Wow that is BAD... our family friend who is a radiologist encountered a woman who she helped and her son's name was s**y.

  28. "I'm sorry Chlamydia, you have Chlamydia."

"Oh so I'm having me? huh?"

Maybe they were preparing her for life?

  29. I think it's a cool name...

  30. hahahahahahahaha omg that would suck to have that name, maybe the parents wanted to show that anyone with STDs can fight it or something lol

  31. I'm hoping her parents were just uneducated and had no idea that it was the name of an STD. If they did know, what the h**l is wrong with them?
