Question:

Why would someone pinch your cheek when you're shy?

An older woman I work with pinched my cheek and kept smiling at me. I started blushing a lot and got embarrassed... (I'm generally very quiet and shy so I didn't say anything).

What makes someone want to pinch your cheek when you're shy?

  1. .........signs of a sicko

  2. They probably think you're passive and that they can get away with it if they dare do something like that. Where does someone come off pinching the cheek of an adult.

I'm a little shy- but only until I'm disrespected in some way. Then my shyness quickly goes out the window and I can get real ugly. Don't let anyone treat you like that again. Be more aggressive when dealing with these people because they obviously think you're weak.

  3. I think they do it because they think you're 'cute-shy', like a little baby or something.  Whatever the reason, it's assault & battery.  If she does it again, tell her you don't like it & ask her how she'd feel if someone did that to her.  Good luck Jessie!

  4. Maybe a child like quality of being shy or she is a cheek pincher :) Does it bother you?

  5. It comes from pinching babies' cheeks, and then gets extended to other people who appear cute to the pincher.  The woman who pinched you needs to understand that it's demeaning.  If she does it again feel free to tell her.

  6. It's probably because of the reaction you had.  People think it's "cute" to see someone blush or get embarrassed easily.

  7. "QUOTE" "i started blushing alot"

Does this not make sense to you?

  8. I guess it was meant as a sign of encouragement on her part.. I am sure she did not pinch you with her nails and injure your skin.. that would be rude.. I guess she gave you a light pinch and she smiled in a friendly way.. she just wanted to kind of say... ''It's ok, I understand you but you could try to open up a bit more.  we don'[t bite here.. I guess that's why she did it.. as encouragement .. not out of disrespect..You said she smiled first and pinched your cheek and then you started blushing so she did not do this because she enjoyed to see you blush. she did it to encourage you and because you are very shy you blushed at the action and at her smile so it was not mean on her part.
