  1. because they only think about themselves and don't think ahead about the consequences of doing that.

  2. Sometimes we abuse those who least deserve it. I've heard it happen so often. I think the reasons depend on the situation and people involved.

    1. Sometimes it seems like the abuser is someone who believes he or she is more independent than they really are, as if they think, "I don't need anyone's help." As mentioned before, it's a form of taking others for granted.

    2. In other cases, it seems more like a kind of self-loathing, like they are angry at their own need, which they see as weakness. "The hand that feeds them" may be strong enough to help out, but is deemed not worthy of the status of "leader." They "bite" in order to prove their own strength (regardless of how inappropriate it is) or to make the strong one feel weaker too.

    3. In some cases, the abuser may not fully trust the motives of "the hand that feeds them." They may think their dependence makes them easily controllable, and they don't want to give up control. Or they may worry that, by accepting help, they will be indebted, which feels like another form of control over them. So the distrust turns into resentment, and resentment turns into abuse behavior.

    4. Other times, I think the abuser is just mean and sadistic. They enjoy watching the pain they can inflict.

  3. This is often done in ignorance - without thinking through the consequences. If you are a feeder to someone like that I would withdraw the supplies. Regards UK

  4. It's another way of saying don't take people for granted.

  5. Some people just don't understand the entire situation...

Like a minor that lives at home and has their parents doing everything for them... and the kid whines and complains about how their parents are p**p-heads.

Or a person that is on the government dole and complains about the government.

Other people just don't care - and feel that the "food" they receive is due to them and can't/shouldn't be taken away.
