Why would someone want you to feel jealous?

Question

i'm confused. my close friend aka the person i fell in love with (she doesnt quite know yet) is giving me all types of signals. 2 days ago i was chatting with her and a mutual friend. we we're talking about his gf and i was complimenting him on how hes lucky to have a girl friend like that.She's so full of energy and is always happy, smiling 24/7. Meanwhile on the other hand my "close friend aka the person i fell in love with" was a little quiet(I was doing most of the talking with our "mutual friend"). afterwards wen our mutual friend leaves i can tell she trys to spark up a convo between us because she goes "sooo..wut are u up to?" she never really asks me that question like that. then later i can tell she kinda gave up and tells me something like shes so full of nothing and that she feels alone. idk what she meant by that really. i tried to cheer her up a little but instead she invites 1 of her friends and she almost ignores me completely. as if i were suppose to get jealous or something. but i played it off very well. later on i can tell she seemed irriated. i dont see what shes trying to prove to me. she doesnt need to prove anything to me or even try to get my attention becuz i like her for who she is. I tried not to stay quiet in the conversation or seem left out because that would make me feel lame. although most of the time they were both talking about certain things that i couldnt get into. was she trying to get me jealous or was she already jealous in the first place when i complimented our mutual friend about his gf? i didnt intend on trying to make her feel jealous. i was just being honest to our friend about his gf.

aww i think thats cute. i think shes just jealous and didnt want to handle you then but when you sent that im sure shes sorry for acting that way. but good luck!

im not positive, but maybe you did something that that person didnt like so he or she is now trying to get back at you. the best you can do is try to igonre it. hope i helped! good luck!

Sounds like your a nice guy that actually cares a lot about her and if she is too dumb to see it thats her loss. But she shouldn't be tryin to make you jealous thats wrong and if she gets jealous over you complimenting another female then she is immature esp if she is taken and its a harmless comment. She needs to take it like a grain of salt and relax and enjoy havin a good man in her life at least you care. Jealousy is a wasted emotion and does no good so hopefully yall can get past this good luck!

she has no reason to be jealous, it's not like you were hitting on your friend's girlfriend.  that birthday wish you send her is honestly so sweet, and i can tell it's genuwine, i just say wait to see how she reacts to it, because i think you did a good think, and something positive will come out of you sending her that.  if things are still weird, just tell her you like her, she likes you too, but she wanst you to take control of the situation.
