  1. IF YOUR CAR HAS A DRIVESHAFT AND ALOT OF MLES ON IT YOU NEED TO CHECK THE U-JOINTS . IF ITS A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR , HAVE THE C-V'S LOOKED AT .. OTHER WISE YOU'RE "ROCKING " THE SUSPENSION AND MAKING IT SQUEEK A BIT   LUBE YOUR JOINTS AND SPRAY SOME W-D 40 ON THE RUBBER BUSHINGS ..

  2. brake pads could be wearing, or the guy before me could be right about suspension. If you've also noticed or start to notice a decrease in the brakes effectiveness, take them in before they start to fail on you. That's the last thing you want. Brake fade could get you killed.

About the transmission, it could just be the gears slipping into place. Do you shift from reverse or park to gear quickly? if you do, come to a full stop, and do it slower and more gently and on a level surface to see if it makes a difference. It shouldn't be a problem, my car does it too, and the drive train doesn't give at all.. We held down the brake, and then put gas on the car till the wheels started spinning, and throughout the entire thing the engine and the transmission stayed solid (that was something my grandpa insisted we do before we bought it)

    hope I've helped

  3. I would guess that the squeaking and the clunking noise ( when shifting into gear ) are related.  My guess would be a bad motor mount and the resulting engine shifting.
