Why would the Redsox settle for such a bad trade?

Jason Bay for a better player in Manny Ramirez plus two decent prospects in Craig Hansen and Brandon Moss plus MONEY... I don't understand

Hansen and Moss were barely decent prospects. Hansen sucked and Moss was a 4th outfielder.  Manny wanted to leave, and we had to respect the fact that he played 8 years here and won us 2 rings, so we let him leave. Obviously Bay will not replace Manny but we had no choice. Jason Bay has been nearly as good as Manny this season though, plus he hustles in the field and on the bases, and has a great work ethic. He will really spark our team chemistry, while Manny was only bringing the team down. So it was a good trade.

Its the reason that they drove away all their great players, Nomar, Clemens, Pedro and now Manny. They use their players and when they are done they trade them away. Could you see the yankees ever trading Derek Jeter away, Nomar was looked at by the sox just like Jeter is to the yanks and they dumped him. I also feel that this wasnt the worst trade, Jason Bay is a legit player, he may not put up spectacular numbers like manny but he still produces. Its not a 1-2 punch with Manny and Ortiz anymore, but its more of a "team" now. And jason bay is a better fielder, and defense wins championships. But this trade will hurt the red sox this year and maybe years to come with trading away a decent prospect like Moss.

Red sox mgt sells out all their players....look at their track record of all the good players they got rid of.  Manny just had the guts to call out mgt.  John Henry has only recently become a good owner.

Red Sox are cheep.... the Red Sox management used "the idiots" to win the 2004 championship and then they treated them like c**p after, except for Ortiz, Tek and Schilling... Manny wanted to stay but they wouldn't renegotiate his contract so he forced their hand but acting up and creating a wedge...  There has been interesting reports coming out after the trade, Theo help a meeting with Vets about Manny, Manny didn't like the options, Tito said he had one of the best conversations he'd ever had with Manny Wednesday.

This has happened before with Millar and Damon.

Just wait until the Tek contract negotiations this winter, I think its gonna get ugly!

edit: Andy close but no... Nomar was a high injury risk... he was used up... The Red Sox knew it... They didn't handle the situation well in the press, but they got 2 guys for him and it was a great trade, the Red Sox messed it up when they didn't resign O.C. not when they traded Nomar.  Pedro is used up too... and both of em are getting paid so good for them.

Clemens used HGH to get good again... he won 40 games in his last 4 years with the Sox... he was done, he failed himself, he would never be Nolan Ryan... so he started getting shots in the butt, everybody was doing it... and then he found the fastball again.

Jason Bay is an all-star caliber player who is much more of a team first guy which causes less distractions in the locker room. he also is cheaper and 200 times better in the outfield
